Installing ergonomic lifting equipment

Rockwool, the world’s leading supplier of stone wool products and insulation systems, has installed several ergonomic lifters from TAWI. At their facility in Belgium, vacuum lifters and lifting trolleys are used daily to pick up and move various items, and they have become an everyday part of the production. By purchasing TAWI lifters, Rockwool wanted to make their workflow easier and safer for the employees.

Lifting 16,000 lbs of boxes every day, effortlessly

Lifting boxes that weighed between 45-65 lbs, and stacking them on pallets, was done by hand up until a few years ago. One pallet can contain up to 72 boxes, each box weighing around 55 lbs, equaling a total weight of around 4,000 lbs per pallet. One employee lifts at least four pallets per shift, lifting a total of 16,000 lbs. By using TAWI ergonomic lifting equipment, these weights can now be managed in an efficient way and without putting pressure on a worker’s body.

Since installing the TAWI lifters, they have been used regularly and daily. The production team has found increased productivity, as they can now manage the same workflow without getting overworked. Danny Flass, the production site supervisor, is confident that the return on investment since installing the TAWI lifters can be measured quickly due to the clear well-being benefits for the employees.
