Adaptability and Improved Safety with the Container Unloader

Additionally, the Container Unloader addresses warehouse and distribution centers’ lifting needs and solve lifting challenges with its mobility and adaptability to fit different operations.

It also has user-friendly controls that operators learn quickly.

  • 1. Flexible modular system- can unload items to the conveyer belt or a pallet. The conveyer belt can be placed to the left, center, or right spot behind the platform.
  • 2. Fully mobile- has wheels and a battery-powered system that makes it easy to drive around to different doors or sites, which makes it an asset for the entire facility.
  • 3. Integrated ergonomic vacuum lift- it can lift items up to 88 lbs. (40 kg) and is a one-handed operation that allows operator to grip items from any angle as well as rotate them. Also, it’s on a mast that can be raised or lowered and on an arm that allows it to move side-to-side and forwards/backwards to help operators reach items.
  • 4. Mobile conveyer belt- can adjust upwards, downwards, inwards and outwards for improved reach and ergonomics.
  • 5. Safe operator platform- it can be raised or lowered to give the user optimal reach, has safety rails that can moved into position behind the operator, and has a built-in stabilizing system to help when traveling over inclines.

When companies manually unload trucks or containers, employees risk injuries from repetitive lifting, can suffer fatigue that causes them to slow down, and need several people to complete the task in the set unloading time frame. Any problems that arise can be expensive.

The U.S. National Safety Council found that work injuries cost $167 billion dollars in 2021, which includes wage and productivity losses, medical expenses, administrative expenses, and employers’ uninsured costs. Also, people need to take time off when they are injured, which puts strain on other people to fill those positions. Other employees might be unable or unwilling to fill-in for such strenuous, physically exhausting tasks, and being short-staffed could lead to detention fees as containers are not being unloaded within the specific time frame.

The Container Unloader has demonstrated impressive ROI, which can be seen with Yusen Logistics case study. They were able to use less employees to unload a container in less man hours when they used the Container Unloader compared to manual lifting.

When Yusen Logistics used TAWI’s Container Unloader, they were able to use only 3 operators and it took 13 man hours, which cost $260. This reduction in operators and increase in speed decreased the cost per container by $140. Looking at their yearly operations, they have around 2 containers per day, 10 per week, 520 per year, and $140 per container. This means the Container Unloader saving $140 per container provides $72,800 savings per year.
